Eyebrows are one of the most important facial features you can modify to look younger and more polished. They frame your face and give it definition, so it’s important to get them right if you want to look your best. If you’re not happy with the shape or color of your eyebrows, you don’t have to settle on doing anything about it – check out this guide on how to choose the right eyebrow pencil.
1. Choose a pencil that’s two shades darker than your natural eyebrow color.
Most eyebrow pencils are dark in color, so if you try to use one that is too light, it will look fake and obvious. You’ll also need a darker shade so you can fix mistakes if you make any. If you don’t have natural brow hair and are using an eyebrow pencil to draw on your brows, choose a shade that matches your skin tone instead of something that is two shades darker.

2. Take your time.
Eyebrows can’t be rushed, so don’t try to get this part done quickly. If you make a mistake, you can always fix it later, but if you rush through the process and miss something, you might not be able to fix it at all. This is especially true if your brows are thin or sparse. You want to look natural, so start by drawing on the front line of your brows (the bottom part) and work up with no gaps in between.
3. Start with the bottom line and work up.
Your brow should start at the end of your nose and go straight up, tapering off just before your eye socket. Draw this on first and then fill in the bottom half of the shape that’s formed. This is key to making sure you don’t end up with one big eyebrow instead of two separate ones that match each other.
4. Blend the pencil.
After you’ve drawn on the shape of your eyebrow, you need to blend the pencil so it looks natural and doesn’t look like you used a dark crayon to draw it on. To do this, use a spooley or a piece of tissue to wipe some of the colors onto your forehead. That way, when you brush it back down toward your face, you won’t have harsh lines that are obvious and unnatural-looking.
